Diesel injector pump timing

OK, I've searched the forum and found some snippets of info but still a bit puzzled!

I'm just in the process of fitting a new (refurbed) diesel injector pump. All OK, got it on with the woodruff key fitted etc. and got my dial gauge all ready to measure TDC. I've lined it up on the slots at roughly the same position as the old one. However, I've read on here about the pump needing to be timed to 0.5 deg etc. but how do I know what is the corresponding TDC on the pump as I can't see any marks or reference points.

Have a look at the flywheel.
