Possible cooling system mod?

Post by Tony x » Thu Oct 25, 2018 12:43 pm

Hello.
Many people who frequently read this forum will have heard it suggested that you can have the sort of coolant leak whereby all is fine when the engine is cold, there's maybe a small leak or maybe no problem at all when hot but, as the engine cools the coolant system sucks air in eventually causing an air lock.
Now I realise this is no substitute for sorting the issue but would it not be a good idea to have a one way valve on the roof of the coolant tank so that any negative pressure when cooling down causes air to be sucked in there and thus avoid the forming of air locks in the system?

There is already such a valve its built into the cap itself;

Thanks very much for the swift reply. I wish I could do such neat diagrams.
