White dials

Post by Bonneville » Thu Oct 11, 2018 9:47 am

I have a set of those white dials with green/blue switch but would like to go back to standard. I can find the black speedo face online but not the others. Can someone tell me if the white ones go over the originals or do they replace them?

I just fitted mines over the top of the originals. I suppose others may have done it different but easier to just leave the originals in place.

Thanks. I've removed the face plates but had a 'mare taking the needles off without breaking them. All of them moved in the process. I notice they are all weighted so do they all need to go back in the same position they came off in? My fuel pointer does not go to zero when switched off so I noted where that one was (on the halfway mark).
I read a thread here about giving it 12v for the speedo but how do the others behave?

The fuel gauges don't zero when ignition off, my MX5 is the same. 8)

Thanks, Bob. I think I'll power it up without needles and then put them on.

You can fit & remove the white dials without taking the needles off, my needles would not budge & didn't want to break something trying.
You kind of slip the hole over the needle.

Yes, I had read that for one maker but there's no way mine are going over the needle as the hole in the dial is smaller than the 'boss' on the needle. Mine are the cheaper plasma ones with V6 on them (and mine's a 2 litre)..

Here's how to fit and zero the needle: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9741&p=73500
