Water Wetter - Anyone used it?

Post by WebWiz » Tue Jul 10, 2018 4:04 pm

Has anyone used Redline Water Wetter or similar products?

It claims to enable better heat transfer from the engine to the coolant which reduces the engine/head temps much better that water and AF alone. This, if my physics is still up to scratch, means that the water temp will actually increase as more heat is now in the water rather than the head.

This should mean the stat opens quicker and the fans come on sooner as the water temp is higher but the head will actually be cooler. Because of this swings and roundabout effect of hotter coolant but lower head temp, the cooling system should run pretty much the same temps overall but with more overhead for short term overheating such as big hills/towing etc.

This seems like a brilliant product, especially for our overheat prone diesels, if it does as it claims.

Anyone care to say if it really works or not??

Do a search on ‘wetters’ they were much discussed some years ago.
As I always point out, if your cooling system is in good condition it is more than capable of doing the job it was designed for...if you need any aftermarket products you have a underlying problem that needs fixing.
