Door close whirring noise
Hi new to the Forum! Recently bought an 02 plate converted Bongo which is awesome. One thing that has developed is that the soft close whirring noise of the side door has intermittently kicked in whilst driving. It opens and closes fine and the central locking is all good just that it seems to be trying to operate the soft close thing at random whilst I’m driving. Just wondered if this might be something common and easily fixed? I read on here to maybe try cleaning the contacts, is that a good idea? I have a young son and it is possible he fiddled with the contacts on the pillar which may have created this problem! Any thanks and hope someone can guide me. Steve

Try cleaning the 5 electrical studs on the door pillar and door itself, use a plastic kitchen scouring pad is best, don't use WD40 or any oils they just attract and stick dust and dirt to the contact areas.

Could it be a faulty door sensor?
Re: Door close whirring noise
There is no door sensor as such. It uses the electrical contacts in the door/pillar.
I used WD-40 specialist contact cleaner (not to be confused with normal WD-40 lubricant) on all the switch contacts on the bongo and they're like new afterwards.
Comma also do contact cleaner which is good.
You can also use nail varnish remover is all else fails.

Re: Door close whirring noise
Thanks for the advice, I’ve used a non scratch kitchen pad on the contacts and it has removed a fair amount of dirt. All good so far since so fingers crossed. Thanks again, Steve
