Hi Guys,
I have recently been under the bongo, sorting out leaky transmission cooling pipes, and noticed a wire coming out of the gearbox/sump, on the drivers side near the bottom, which doesn't go anywhere.
It has a plug plugged into it but there is a broken wire sticking out and no sign of where the hell it should go.
Not taken the plastic belly cover off yet so may find it but does anyone have any idea what it's for?
It's got a very slightly jumpy 1-2 change and HOLD is flashing (has been since I bought it a few months ago) but drives fine so baffled as to the lack of importance it seems to have.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks,
Alan

Without a picture of the connector and a colour code for the wire, it could be almost anything! Take some pictures and put them up to see using https://imgur.com/ or similar.

No probs.
Will crawl back under there when I'm back from work and take some pics.
Thanks

Just a wee thought, the OIL LEVEL SENSOR has a plug connector but the sensor is on the engine sump.
Re: Wire hanging from auto box
Quite right teenmal. In my upside down state and not having my mind on that particular job, I didn't pay any attention to which sump I was looking at. Then, having only thought about posting this the following morning, my memory failed miserably.
It is on the engine sump. Wouldn't it show an engine fault glow plug light if it's missing a sensor?

It could be as the ECM will be looking for the sensor, check out the wiring and reinstall it if possible.
Geoff will probably give you the wiring details you require .
