Diesel Pump Leak - head O-ring

Post by tushe » Mon Jul 02, 2018 10:53 am

Hi Guys,
I have a small leak from the pump head's O-ring when the pump is cold.
When i start the engine it leaks for about 3-5 mins and after that it stops.
Couple of months ago I changed the two sides small O rings as there was a leak from there as well :-)
I was wondering if this one is possible without removing the pump /situ/ position.

There are some write ups for doing this on Bosch VE IP where you can replace one of the head's bolts with a 6x55mm while keeping the internal parts in proper position.

This one is for VW old diesels, but the pump is almost the same.
I believe if you work carefuly you will be able to reach the o-ring without droping the internal parts inside the pump /plunger, etc/.

I tried the search but wasnt able to find anything about head o-ring.
Cheers
