Stalling

Post by tynewyddfoel » Tue Jun 19, 2018 2:13 pm

Had a 1996 2.5 Auto Diesel for 6 months. Most of the time it runs great but quite often on cold start it bumps a little then up to 2 - 3 miles from home it can stall several times. Its takes a bit to restart but once its had its tantrum its fine for the rest of the trip. I have seen old threads with choke being the issue and this is what I suspect I have. On Saturday I travelled 1 mile then it stalled 7 times over 200 m then suddenly it was happy. Its more likely to happen slowing down but not always. Any ideas?

use the search tab at the top of the page and search for cold and start and solenoids, use the AND as it then searches for the individual words rather than the phrase. click on each tab and have a good read.

could be other things like glow plugs or supply to them, battery or alternator, check these are working correctly.
come back if you need more help.

It might also be worthwhile changing/cleaning Fuel Filters.
