Bongo EGR valve replacement

Post by MacintyreUK » Thu Jun 07, 2018 9:18 pm

Bongo in garage after coil flashing and loss of power, error code is egr valve. Garage struggling to source a replacement, and new MOT rules , mean blanking off no longer an option. Any recommendations of a source to buy of egr valve for a 2000 2.5 diesel. I have recommended the reach out to bongo spaces. They are aon the bongo garage listing so would have expected better.

It would be interesting to hear if anyone with the egr blanked off has had their Bongo MoT'd.

You need to get the code number and see exactly what it relates to. Blanking or changing the EGR might not fix the problem. What's the code number?

My Citroën berlingo has the EGR blanked off after recording a sticking valve on the OBD meter. It has been through 2 previous MOT's with no problem, it was not even noticed by the MOT station. Ironically the emissions have been lower since blocking off. Dont see how the MOT station would know if not expressly told.

No none so far. :)
But Allan had a 'dangerous to drive/do not drive' MOT failure on a Bongo today. Guess what it was?
One brake light bulb had blown on the way to the MOT. I'm not joking!
Apparently garages can refuse to let vehicles leave the garage until a 'dangerous to drive' fault is fixed. Luckily common sense prevailed.

There would be no way for an MOT tester to know the EGR valve was blanked off.
