Fuel pump replacement

Post by Dungoisdadsbongo » Thu May 10, 2018 11:28 am

Hello,
Hopefully my lad will be putting a new fuel pump on my Freda this evening after weeks of headaches. The original plan was to have the existing pump refurbished but we've ended up getting a replacement from Bongo Spares. When the old one was removed he marked all necessary positions with regards to the timing and tensioner pulleys etc (sorry I'm not engine savvy). My understanding this would have been sufficient if putting the old one back, correct?
However as it is a different one I believe he will now need to set the timing of the pump using a DTI gauge (he has), I've read that the "deflection" should be about 1mm but what I would like is the complete guidance notes on the process. I don't have a service manual and can't find anything in the members area. Does anyone
A) know what I'm talking about or due to my lack of knowledge kind of get what I'm asking for?
B) based on me making some sort of sense have more information that could help please?
:?
Thanks
Gary
