Where is my ABS pump?
Hi there
We are trying to source a second hand ABS pump for our Mazda Bongo and we have been asked for the code/number of our current ABS pump - but I don't know where it is in the engine? Can anyone help me?
We have a 1998 V6 petrol bongo.
(I know that getting a second hand pump is slightly controversial but we can't afford the grand it would cost to get one in from Japan so needs must.)
Thanks for your help!

Re: Where is my ABS pump?
Ah ha! Brilliant. I've located it!
One last question, might you know where a code/reference number might be? Looks like I might have to get under the engine to look from underneath?!?

Re: Where is my ABS pump?
It's Mazda part number S38J437A0. (zero at end)

Re: Where is my ABS pump?
Thank you, Ian.
I was led to believe that the pump would have a number unique to itself, but is that wrong? Is it the same code for all ABS pumps?

Re: Where is my ABS pump?
Ah ha! That makes it much easier if they all have a generic code.
And that pump's so cheap! I presume we can trust bongospares2012? Seems a steel at £60.
Thank you again for answering my questions. Like having experts sat next to me

Bongo Spares have a very good reputation on here.
The point about fitting 'pre loved' parts comes up now and again, but someone pointed out that buying a used vehicle you're buying all used parts.

Re: Where is my ABS pump?
Cutlass is right. Check your chassis number first. Click on 43-7AO in the diagram on this page and then look for the Mazda part number top left.

Re: Where is my ABS pump?
I need your help again!
The chassis number is SG5W-302747 but this number does not feature in the grid that relates to 43-7A0. Hmm. Can anyone direct me to another crib sheet where this chassis number might be connected to the ABS pump PN?
THANK YOU!

Re: Where is my ABS pump?
Ok, yours is a late new shape V6. Which is 2WD. So it has part number SH54437A0, see http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... no=.html#7

I am so grateful, thank you, thank you!!

Thanks again for your help.
We took our Bongo to 321 Away just outside Reading and they diagnosed it was just a sensor that was broken, not the ABS pump. Phew! So even though I wasted your time asking for the PN, we ended up spending much less money than we thought. (We also got distracted by the conversions at their sister showroom so we might end up spending lots of money doing that in the future!)

Re: Where is my ABS pump?
Glad you're sorted, and for not too many £££.
Don't worry about asking questions on here, even though you didn't need the pump others will benefit from the info, and we do like to talk Bongos on here.
