Can't help with the gasket mod. But maybe the old head would look good on legs and a bit of perspex on top - a coffee table! Bit Top Gearish. :D

These also have the holes blocked, https://mazdabongo.com/catalog/mazda-bo ... ll-models/ and https://autojapspares.com/index.php?id_ ... &id_lang=1 Maybe that's the way it is. Bit of a puzzle - hope you can resolve it. Knowing what weak point the head gasket is I'd be worried about modifying it myself.

For thirty quid I would probably just get a new gasket.

If you can get a refund on the other one well and good, but the risk of damage is too high if you ask me. :?

On the WLTD engine the Multilayer gasket does Block these waterway passages, its the way it was designed. Its nothing to worry about if the cooling system is in good condition .

Take care

some times manufactures change their mind over time what is best for a design that generally does not change. A good example i am aware of is the Hillman imp head and the tightning sequence of the Norton twin head

Great welding and quality repair. If you need inspiration check out this thread http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/thre ... aro.74791/ on an imported Nissan Figaro. The guy is doing a great job despite finding rust everywhere.

PS it will take a while to read the whole thread.....

the sills are open inside along the full length from wheel arch to wheel arch, when i did mine mine i put in closure plates just inside the arches and one half way along, if they can stop a ship or submarine sinking itll help a bongo last a bit longer. 8) 8)
