vibrating van on idle

Post by playnotwork » Tue Nov 14, 2017 12:33 am

recently fixed the fast idle circuit and wow it idles with a lot less vibration at 900 revs, but back to vibrating like a bus when fast idle drops out. How doI imcrease the idle speed. Looked at moving the switched stop out on the acceleretor, but dont want to rotate the attached wire to much.
cheers

the way to set em up is to think of it like this.
the glow plugs only work up to 950 revs so during warm up you have to keep it as near this but not higher than this to warm up fast.
the solenoids act like a 2 stage warm up, so when below coolant temp 10 deg c the white plugged solenoid pulls up the throttle via the vac to its full amount, this is done via the 2 pipes that go to the chamber on the pump, so really cold gives full throttle cable pull then when it gets to 10 deg c this drops out and the solenoid next to it kicks in, giving half pull on the throttle cable, until the 50 deg c temp is reached then they both are off AND the glow plugs go off.
at no time does the throttle go above 950 revs but as the 2 solenoids do their thing a slight drop for a second or 2 can usually be heard but as the engine is gradually warming up the engine revs pick up slowly to keep the overall tick below and very near to the 950 desired setting.

think of it like the old choke levers of the older cars, full pull when cold, half pull when warming up, fully off when warm.

Are you Sure ???

Its probably more like " On a cold engine Up to approx 1500 rpm."

Take care.
