cabin heat

Post by Brokenfeather » Sat Nov 04, 2017 5:28 pm

Hi I have a 2001 2ltr petrol bongo and although the temp gauge says engine temp is good I get very little heat in the cabin and none in the back area. If I set the mode to face and legs and 32 degrees I get a warmth on fan speed 1 but any higher on the fan and the slight warmth disappears.
everything in the engine area looks ok but something must be wrong.
Any help would be great.

start by feeling the 2 hoses run to bulkhead and the front heater

once warmed up the should both be hot,one may be a tiny bit hotter than the other

if not the your system needs a clear out as heater radiators run hot all the time

if they are both hot you need to start looking under the dash, you will see a round bit with levers coming of

this controls the flaps that stop or allow the heat from the radiator to come in,some thing might not be attatched any more

The 2 ltr engine doesn't need to be bled in the same way as the diesel or V6, but I'm guessing you could bleed the heater by gently easing the top pipe off until coolant comes out.

Make certain to was away any coolant with fresh water as it isn't good for paint work.

Not sure if will cure your problem but I recently cleaned my interior temperature sensor as my heating would only work at either 18 or 32 degrees.. sInce cleaning the sensor it works as it should now.

Ooh, 32 degrees sounds toasty :D I guess this is only a problem if you have digital aircon, not the MX5 twiddly knob setup?
