Hi all,
We love our little Bongo but she's had lots of little aliments over the last 12 months, new radiator and replacing the knuckle on the rear prop shaft have been just two of the jobs ..
The latest as always ... starts as an easy job .. replacing the rear discs and pads ... turns out the pad had slipped and the piston is now damaged .. sigh .. so .. simple job now is .. replace the piston .. has anyone done this? Just looking for advice .. especially on how easy it is and how to bleed the breaks afterward. I've seen videos on how to do this on other calipers but not on a Bongo.

its a standard job to do it yourself or garage. you can buy repair kits like the ones ive linked to below, frenchtec are good. or your local mazda garage for gen parts.
if your doin the pistons its good practice to do all parts and seals, and do both on the same axle. there is a knack to doin em fit the fluid seal then fit the dust seal to the piston, then put the bottom seal of the dust cover into the calliper grove then insert the piston, or you wont get all the seals into the groves. do a test dry first coss when you have done it a few times dry when you come to final ass when everything is lubed up you will get it right. .
check and or replace the bleed nipple first, as if its stuck snapped off you can decide then to replace the calliper, check for corrosion and scoring inside the calliper bore too.

if your not confident let a garage do it as you dont often get 2 chances with brakes.

Thanks for the advice .. I'll definitely take it on board!.. Already bought the frenchtec ones so that's one step in the right direction! We need to do as much of the work ourselves to stop the costs from getting to high ..
