Heating Controls

Post by Alkers » Fri Oct 27, 2017 1:57 pm

I have the non-digital heating/ac controls and just recently I can no longer choose where the air is blown out of. The lever had always been stiff but now it moves easilly and no matter what location it is on, the air comes out of the vents and not in the footwells or to de-mist the windows.

Anyone know how much of a fix this is or have any pointers? I assumer there is a physical linkage somwhere which has broken?

Thanks!

Take a look in the drivers footwell the cable has probably come off the disk;

Finally got around to having a better look at this over the weekend:

While the cable isn't too well fixed to the wheel, it does appear to be attached. I can't move either the wheel or the cable, they are well seized. The control handle is also stiff to move but when it does move you can tell by the sensation that it's not connected properly. Moving the control has a minimal impact on the cable and the wheel in the footwell.

Is it possible to get access to the other end of the cable? Maybe by disconnecting the wheel I could get more of a purchase on the cable in teh footwell and try freeing it up?

You can pull the controls out, same way as a radio, remove the side covers and release the unit, then pull out, and minding for the cables of course! See http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... 1of02.html for full details or the diagram alone;
