Bongo Fury

Hello all,

I am looking for the correct cable size for the electric window on the drivers side for the 30 Amp fuse. I need to supply the 12 Volts to the switch as it is broken somewhere.
Does anybody know the correct AWG for it. I have looked around and thought 16 AWG for a 2 metre run would be ok to handle 30 Amp other places say it should be 10 AWG. Looking at the red stripe black wire it does not look 10 AWG more like 16 AWG.
Do any of you have any guides to the AWG wire sizes on the bongo.

Not certain of the size you need, but the break is most likely where the loom passes from the A pillar into the driver's door.

If you cut back the outer insulation you will probably see the break, or a little wiggle will let you feel it.

Cut the wire and strip off some insulation and you'll see the size, then just solder in a 2" piece and heat shrink.

That does sound a lot easier, will do that tomorrow.

I doubt that the Jap's use American Wire Gauge! However if you need to replace the cable in the wiring loom then 33 Amp cable, 44/0.30mm, 3 mm2 Thin walled would be fine.

Great help could not find the break in the loom so will gets some of that size cable and thread it through.

I had a central locking problem which turned out to be a corroded pin in the connector inside the pillar that the door loom plugged into. Cables between door and pillar were fine.

Also the switches are known to fail, but I presume you've eliminated that possibility.
