how to: auto power mirrors
Hi All, happy beginning of summer,
I'm wondering if it is possible/straightforward to make the mirrors auto fold when ignition on / off.
thanks in advance,
Tom

Its been done, and the guy I recall doing it had username Jaylee so you could search old posts by him as I think he wrote up how he did it.Tom_B wrote:Hi All, happy beginning of summer,

I'm on Vancouver Island time - its messing with me pot head. My bro got chatting with a Bongo owner in Victoria when we were there today - said he was a member of this forum. Small world!

That'll learn you, following your sat nav to the pub.
Sounds great.

Easy if you have a leisure battery. Transfer he mirrors to this circuit. Mine fold a the touch of a switch any time. Useful in tight spaces. I also have my electric sun roof connected in the same way.

Re: how to: auto power mirrors
Hello ,
hope I'm not hghjacking the tread but my bus doesn't have the folding mirror function , how difficult is it to retro fit these ?
I assume I need the approperite button and outside mirrors , is it a simple plug and play or is there extra loom required ?
My bus is 95 4wd TD
Thanks
Brian

Re: how to: auto power mirrors
I suspect you need mirrors with the motors fitted.
Likely the wiring is there but the switches and motors won't be.

Re: how to: auto power mirrors
I suspect it could be fiddly sorting the wiring even if motorised units prove easy to fit. Also I think they're a case of be careful what you wish for as they break easily if they ever get wrenched, as I know to my cost, having had to have both replaced over time.Merlot man wrote:Hello ,

Your also going to need the switch itself as well as the replacement mirror units.

Re: how to: auto power mirrors
Thanks for the replies gents
I don't mind sourcing the switch or the mirrors it's more the wiring I'd be concerned about , I think I'd do it if it was simply plug and play
My bus has electric mirrors but not the turning in feature which I'd like .
So to be clear can I buy the switch and mirrors and simply plug them into my existing look ?
As always thank you all for the great advice

So are you saying you have electric mirrors, but that they don't fold in ? Does the switch have the fold in switch on it as well ?
