A1 Towbar fitting

Post by WestyK » Sun Apr 02, 2017 12:40 pm

Hi All

Just in the process of fitting the A1 towbar as bough from the Bongo Shop.

Off site bracket fitted with no problems at all but the nearside i am struggling with a little.

When bolted up to the rear bumper mounting bracket with the captive plate the front sites about 10 off the chassis.
If i place the bracket up without being bolted to the bumper mount it seems to fit all the angles ok but the holes in the mount don't line up too well.

So what i am thinking is that i can enlarge the holes in this rear bumper mount as its fitted with a captive plate anyway so should be fine.

Just wonder if anyone else has had to do this and if you think this will be ok.

And the last question. The instructions are not too clear about which side hole you enlarge on the rear cross member to take the crush tube. It would be a lot more practical and easy for it to be the top hole but if you go with the thinking of all the others it should be the bottom one (against the bracket, although to me that doesn't make sense either but that's another story) if that makes sense.

Thanks
Ian
