Tyre Pressures
I was checking my tyre pressures last night (as I am trying to check everything that might be making my mpg bad) and this is the metal plate on the inside of the drivers door.
I assume it is saying that it should be 180kPA on the front and 240kPA on the rear. Is this right? It seems quite low.
As psi that is 26 and 35.
Should i increase these a bit to account for having a full camper conversion?
Ta,
Pete

Re: Tyre Pressures
I've only had the Bongo a short while and so have only managed to do one "brim" test.rita wrote:Pete, what is the MPG at the moment.?
I measured that to be 20.5mpg - I'm not sure how accurate the odometer is yet...
There was a lot of town driving involved in that to be fair.
When I checked my tyre pressures they were 35 on the front. On the rear, one was 40, one was 25 (!).

Afraid you wont get much more , in actual fact its quite good if you are doing a lot of Town driving. These old tubs are not renowned for economy.

Re: Tyre Pressures
Yes urban mpg is not good. But hit the open road and keep speed to 60mpg max on the open road and mine has (once or twice, when i've bothered) on occasion returned 40+ mpg. Commonly 30-32 mpg at 70mph if not into a headwind. 2wd diesel.
On tyre pressures, i've tended to run at 38psi front and 40mpg rear but i'm now having a go (on 17" wheels and tyres) at a few psi lower (34/36) as i'm usually travelling solo and without much load and would like to soften the ride a bit if i can over poorly maintained roads.

You should contact them with your 40+MPG to add to their tests.mikeonb4c wrote:Yes urban mpg is not good. Re: Tyre Pressures
I fear two occasions in ten years isn't going to up my average much rita
But, being serious, for me mpg is pretty much irrelevant. Total cost and pleasure of owning Bongo outweighs mpg. And i'm currently only doing 3k per annum so fixed costs are the bigger issue. I'm lucky too in that my main use is on open roads where mpg starts to be acceptable.
Edit: just realised bloody predictive text changed 40psi to 40mpg. What the feck!
