ventilation control "wheel" broken (drivers side)
Hi,
down in the drivers footwell there is a white plastic 'wheel', connected by various rods, which controls the ventilation direction. A small 'retainer' of this has broken off, which means that one of the control rods keeps slipping out. I'm guessing I'm not the only person that this has happened to, so has anyone found an easy way to implement a fix for this?
Thanks!

Small cable ties, a couple of them, or push the rod back thru the hole and a cable tie around the rear to stop it pulling back thru is a common solution.

ok, thanks, I'll give that a try. I'm just trying to work out a way to hold it in, but leave enough freedom for the wheel to move as it needs to... . If I can fix a tie to the end of the rod, that would do the trick!

You need the very small thin ones 100mm(4") x 2.5mm(0.1") like some of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from= ... s&_sacat=0 not so easy to identify is how small they will do up, but the type with serrations all the way up to the head is what you need so that they will curl up into really small diameter when pulled tight!

Thanks. I've ordered some of these and will give it a try!

Alternatively, could you put a bit of heat shrink tubing over the end of the rod, and if necessary another bit over that?

Re: ventilation control "wheel" broken (drivers side)
Ive tried the mini cable ties, but there's really not enough of the rod protruding to get anything on the end of it. So I've resorted to an elastic band. Not necessarily a robust solution, but I guess it'll be easy enough to replace with a new one when it goes!

seen cable tie use by drilling 2 small holes in disc and trapping cable into the hole, trick is not to pull to tight

have you tried an small E clip or flat push nut
