Help! Van not starting...

Post by frankdoylezw » Wed Aug 03, 2016 2:31 pm

Need some help please! My wife is trying to use our bongo and can't seem to start it. She has our little one year old baby with her and is a little concerned!

I'm at work and it sounds to me like this is a flat battery. From the attached video (bad as it is) does it seem like this is the case?

Symptoms: power to the dash lights and audible beep from coolant alarm when key turned, but then just clicking and odd fading in and out of lights on dash when trying to start.

Help please!

Yes it does seem like a flat battery from your description. Cannot get the video from here.

Also check that the "Charge" light hasn't blown, this should normally self test during ignition, it will come on until the alternator is charging the battery, at that point it goes out, if the lamp has failed it might be the alternator isn't charging the battery!
