Flashing Coil Light and Hold light.

Post by Willumm53 » Wed Aug 05, 2015 4:14 pm

Hello all
Bought a Bongo Auto Top, March 2014 2.5D Automatic 2000 reg.
Wife and grandchildren love it.
Not converted, used several times last year locally in Wales and across the water to England, with a grand tour of the French Alps in August 2014 - no problem, dream to drive.
This year we were in Cardigan in June and problems.
Flashing Coil light and Hold light and dropping into safe mode every few minutes. Called Green Flag :( Good for recovery, poor on diagnostics.
Lots of reading web pages and forum entries. Struggling to find a local repair shop wanting to look at my problem. Most said it must be gearbox and its an automatic - no thanks.
Found a great mechanic two miles from home.
Diagnostic readings of P0510 seem to be the problem. We changed the Throttle Sensor (CB0541aoc 42-Aco) and the Throttle Switch (BH4C66470 18-660E) (long story about sourcing these)
The Mechanic fitted the parts and tested the Bongo Hold light clear and also the Flashing Coil light. No safe mode on many test runs over last week - no problem.
However, the Flashing Coil light returned without any safe mode and after clearing the fault reading on the diagnostic reader, re-read the system and P0510 has returned.
Sorry about the long saga :? :? :? :? :?
Any help would be great as Nigel the mechanic's hair is turning White.
Many thanks

Flashing hold light and glow plug light usually means alternator problem.

Ah no, alternator is steady Charge and Sediment!
Flashing of glowplug means ECU reporting fault and Hold means TCM reporting fault.

This needs to be a new thread ...
Flashing Hold light means the computer is reporting a problem, the flashing stops when the problem is resolved so it sounds like you have an intermittent problem. You need to read the diagnostic socket error code when the light is flashing to help pinpoint the fault.
