Sounds positive Martin. Looks like the vacuum in the tank theory was on the right track

. It could also point to a weak injector pump that could not pull the skin off of custard.

did you clean the little hole in the tank filler the one at the 6 oclock position.
thanks for exploring the little valve further, any info is good info and pictures usually speak more than words for the hard of thinking like me.

Not sure if this will work...

The last is a diagram of how the valve functions. It's actually a very clever little plastic molding and only functions as depicted when inside a tube and the side ports (presumably where the mold tool has side cores) are closed.

Hope this helps to explain.
The Bongo is still untested on a long journey.

Apologies for the thread revival - I'm having similar issues - bongo stalling (but only with low fuel). I went to investigate the breather pipe beneath the fuel filler cap and I don't seem to have one! I can see straight through the small hole beneath the filler cap, into the space underneath the wheelarch...
Is this likely the source of my problems?
I had a look at the fuel cap, no apparent issues but I couldn't figure out how to disassemble it any further.
