Post by grey fellah » Wed Mar 25, 2015 9:39 pm

i have a problem with my pass side window working part time, pretty sure the driver side switch is faulty, will older model switch fit my 2002 bongo or is it only the grey face lift type i need, thanks in advance

It's quite often seems to be the wiring loom
As it passes from door into pillar open door and unwrap wires
Normally a broken wire

Before changing the switch check the wiring where it leaves the pillar and goes into the door.

This is a common fault on the driver's side.

Not sure if the old type switch is the same.

I seem to recall reading that you have to be careful with the switches as there is another Mazda one which looks the same but the left and right functionally is transposed.

hi all, as simon thought the cheap drivers side window switches { £20+ ) on ebay, the up/down controls are transposed, ie rt hand switch operates pass side window & vice versa, suggest they are not bongo specific & could be for other l h d vehicles

I think you can rule out the LHD theory as the left hand switch should always operate the left hand window regardless of whether the switch is mounted on the left or right door. For £20 at least you have working switches and if you can cope with the indicator stalk being on the right of the steering wheel, then reversed window switches should be a breeze :).

Have a look at the switch and check its action.

If it is loose with damage to the axis it moves around, then it probably is the switch and/or the loom.

If the switch moves firmly and smoothly with no play then it is most probably the loom.

I have also encountered intermittent results being temporarily cured by waggling the Molex type connector between the loom and the switch. The contacts can get corroded.

My windows often have bad days and I've yet to cure it by waggling the loom between the door and the pillar, it's always the switch or the connector that needs a kicking in my Bongo.

hi folks, the intermitent fault seemed 2 be cured when i replaced the dual swich, but it has returned ! i lost supply to the switch, started just now & again then went off completely, all fuses intact, no feed to black/red cable inside drivers side footwell where it runs up into the dash, didnt want to dismantle to much, so have cut the cable driver & pass side cables sealed the ends & run new feeds 2 each side via spare way,{ex blinds now on leisure batt} on the fuse panel via a 20a fuse, all working, no other supplies 2 both switches other than the one i have installed, i know there is disconnecion up under the dash somewhere but does anyone out there foresee any other probs ray

Quite often the break in the drivers door wiring loom is intermittent to start with before it gets stressed further and the ends part company for good!

Hi,

Also having this problem, I have a 2002 2.0 Bongo and the casing is broken on the switch. I have bought a cheap copy switch and it only opened the Passenger window using the drivers control and neither opened the drivers. Also bought a used one from a 97 Bongo, same behaviour.

I know my electrics are ok as I have dismantled the switch and I can slide the micro switches to control the window, it's just not very convenient whilst trying to drive...

Anyone know where I can get a 2002 double window switch?

Thanks!

Can you not make one good one out of the three? There's a genuine Mazda switch on eBay for a mere £150 inc delivery: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-BONGO-F ... 2c6b9f9a7e
