Where it would be nice to have a flow meter would be seeing the instantaneous flow related to a particular driving style. An averaged figure can't easily show what particular events lead to poor economy.

This would be easy were it not for the matter of over supplied fuel being returned to the tank. Someone needs to develop a twin head flowmeter with subtraction circuitry.

A Raspberry Pi taking pulses from 2 flow gauges could integrate the information to give a semi-instantaneous reading, maybe a trip to the scrappers to rip the probes out of a 1.6i Orion Ghia?
