V6 oil leak

Post by Dotty1971 » Tue Apr 15, 2014 8:16 am

I have a Ford Freda V6 which has developed a misfire...after checking the HT leads I have found oil in both the os and ns end leads...does this sound disasterous or is it an easy repair..I am also on holiday and need to tow my caravan home is this advisable....

they often seem to leak from rocker cover gasket

check all bolts are tight

in the end might need new gaskets

Managed to soak the oil up and dry out..rocker bolts were loose.....now tightened leads clean and dry..no misfire... will run today and recheck...fingers crossed....many thanks..

Hi

you should note that the rock cover bolts only require a bit more than finger tight to meet the spcification as they have rubber seals on each one that will break if over tightened.
