Rattling Tail Gate / Back Door

Post by Sparky6911 » Fri Mar 14, 2014 9:18 pm

Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced a really annoying rattle from the rear door.

I have done a google search for this with no results.

Both of the rubber bump stops are in place, there is a small piece of the squidgy rubber door seal missing but the sold piece that attached to the metal flange is still there.

Is it possible to move the door lock to tighten up the door against the bump stops and door seal?

Thanks in advance

from recall its the catch ring bit on the floor you move

and in my case in the opposite direction you would have thought

as the lock was only taking its safety hold as it had been moved to far

once moved it would fully latch

another thing that affects the back door closing properly is the spare wheel carrier. if its been pulled up too tight it easily distorts the rear cross member which can cause the rear door to alter its catch point.
loosen the spare wheel slightly so the spring relaxes a little.

The tailgate door on my Bongo never used to shut properly and rattled, until I discovered that the pull-strap was getting trapped in the door seal. I taped it up to the door panel with gaffer tape and problem solved!
