CENTRAL LOCKING LOCKS OK BUT DOESN'T UNLOCK

Post by PeteH » Tue Nov 19, 2013 3:36 pm

When I unlock the van the door buttons twitch but don't unlock.
Can't be much wrong.
Anyone seen this before?
Cheers

Do you have a leisure battery ? If so then it needs a charge, the top left fuse by the drivers knee is often switched over to the L/B and the door switch is driven from this fuse, if the battery is low it might be causing the problem.

No I don't have a leisure battery.
Just the one battery that has recently been replaced so is in good condition.
But thanks for trying =D>

If the buttons weren't twitching I'd suggest the loom where it passes from the pillar into the driver's door.

Hi I hope there is an answer because mine does the same,it's fine in summer but when the temperature drops it locks fine but then the drivers door always unlocks,other doors erratic sometimes twitching,delayed action or nothing.Replaced drivers door loom and relay but the problem persists in winter.Confused.

Just adding to the cold weather theory,my drivers side window needs a helping hand to
open it on cold mornings,first time I open it is to wave my pass
key to get in my works car park around 3 miles from home,anyone else have this sort of issue ?

Try key fob spray with wd40 may be sticking or battery may be low.

OK if there isn't a L/B then it has to be the power the to the other door locks. The switching process is a two stage affair, first the drivers door is unlocked, this operates a switch (K2-01 below) that triggers the switching of door lock module (K2-02) so that the other three door locks are powered (K2-03/04/05);

Given that the locks are "twitching" -

I presume ALL three locks are twitching ???

- then the drivers door switch K2-01 must be operating, after that the fault could be;
In the switching module,
Power to the switching module,
The easiest thing to check first is the 30 Amp fuse to power the module fuse X03-5;
Image
remove it clean the blades.
Next will be to check the plug to the module K2-02, unplug it and then remake the connections, its on the bulkhead behind the glove compartment (remove to gain easier access).
If the fault persists then it could be down to the relay inside the module itself, I've not had one to open up and see how practical that is but it would be my first move, otherwise replace the whole module.

some good information there thanks.I wonder which is likely to be affected by temperature.think I'll start by cleaning the fuse blades.

try powering the motor directly and seeing if it works smoothly in both directions? sounds like the drive motor in the drivers door which commands the rest maybe getting weak

Try it with the engine running, or bridge the battery positives with a jump lead

Thanks for the detailed info and wiring diagram.
Now I understand what's wired to what I can figure out how it works and fix it.
Shame it's so Blxxxdy cold out at the moment!!
Role on the spring.
Those spherical pictures are pretty impressive.
