Bongo Problem - Is it serious???!

Post by HARLEYBONGO » Mon Oct 28, 2013 8:43 am

Hello all,

Looking for your advice.

Fuelled up at Tesco last week and put in some Redex Diesel Fuel treatment. Day after the engine started to mis-fire and what appears to be some strange noises coming from the rocker cover area - sounds like some metal jingling together.

Engine turns over as normal but as mentioned mis-firing and not a lot of power as a result.

Many thanks in advance
That's not knocking stupid......... it's a Diesel.

Thank you.

Not long put a new replacement complete cylinder head on the Camper! It's worth investigating I guess!!

Definitely investigate.

Sounds like you could do a lot of harm trying to drive it.

Good luck. [-o<

Was it a genuine Mazda Head? There was a case on here about a year or so ago where a chap had a new built up head delivered and the bolts on the camshaft journals were loose and the valve clearances weren't set correctly. It could be camshaft come loose or such like and nothing to do with the Redex.

Non-Genuine complete head. Would the head need to come off or would it be a case of adjusting the cams???

Thank You.

Having tried to drive it this afternoon - I am turning my attention to the injectors. Cams appear to be in goord working order.
