rearfog lamp

Post by joca » Sat Aug 31, 2013 9:21 pm

Hi, I have my fog lamp fitted to the offside reversing lens. I purchased a red bulb on ebay which was 21 watts. The site said it was not e rated but would pas the MOT. It failed the MOT today. Do any of you were I could pick one tommorow. It is the cap less type. I have tried halfords but they dont do one in red. Thanks in advance. Joca

Hi Laird. Thanks for the quick reploy. The one on ebay was a dark red but it lit pink in colour. I have painted another bulb red but it still does not look right. I have orderd some flush fitting reversing lights off ebay. They will not arrive before the retest.Thats why I am for a quick fix. Joca

Worth popping a few red Quality Street wrappers inside the lens.

Is this the type of E rated bulb that you need.

"These bulbs are not E Marked but will pass an MOT." ...But when fitted to his .. it did not ...

Personally, I would return the bulb to the supplier with a copy of the failure certificate, requesting a full refund. You could also report him to trading standards...

If you need to get thru the MOT quickly, get some red cellophane type material which you can cut to size and fit either inside or outside the lens.

Something like this would probably be ok:
