Roof never stops beeping... Help!!

Post by sarahjamjar » Sun May 19, 2013 11:36 pm

Hi all - I am a relatively new Bongo-er so haven't really worked everything out yet. My roof was going up as planned but the last time I used it - it beeped as normal on the way up... But then wouldn't stop beeping unless the engine was turned off. I not sure that the roof was fully opened but it wouldn't go any further no matter how long I held the button down. Any ideas how I could fix this?

Thank you!!

Sarah :-)

Ours sometimes does this, when it won't go further if you lower it slightly and then raise it again it may be all you need

I second that 8) - it happened to me regularly, especially if it was cold.

Not quite fully open. Give it a gentle helping hand and will probably shut up

As said above, the last half inch needs a little help once things get to a certain age. A little spray of light oil on the runners & rams often helps. I used to use the cooking stuff in a squirty can from Crisp & Dry. Always worked a treat!

Mine carries on bleeping when I lower it - it seems to have shut ok.
Is there an associated 'down' micro switch?

Hello Sarah, this problem has been covered in a previous Topic about a week ago.The micro switch is located at the front end of the roof. There are two - One controls the bleeping, one controls the light on the dashboard.I had the light on my dashboard flashing all the time when the roof was down for over a year, and did what other owners have done and just covered it with black tape. But faced with an MOT fail because a warning light was lit I decided to sort it out.I found that adjusting the copper strips on the microswitch sorted the light, but now had the bleeper on all the time.I adjusted the other one on the other side and Bingo! No bleeping.Check the previous topic. Cheers Michael

There is an advantage to the beeping not stopping.... when you put the roof down you can always do it from the driver's seat! - I never push mine the last cm to stop it beeping as this is nice and convenient :-)

One other thing to note is that having to press the "lock cancel" or whatever it is button makes you lower the inner roof, as the frame of the raised inner roof obscures the button. If you didn't have to press the button and just controlled everything from the driver's seat, you could lower the roof with the inner roof raised which will get the roof tent tangled up in the inner roof
