Auto Box Problem.

Post by johnnybee » Tue Apr 30, 2013 1:11 pm

Anyone come across this before?
1999 4WD auto.
Drove forward off driveway no problem.
Put in reverse and the engine stalled.
Put in park started engine put in R engine stalled.
It was very cold and the motor had not been used for a few days.
Tried to recreate the problem to show mechanic mate and of course it didn't do it.
Any ideas?

The drive I came off is level but the place the motor stalled is on a slight slope.
I have reversed many auto's up the slope including another Bongo with no problems.
I checked the ATF and that was fine.

Might be a daft question but is your alternator ok and the battery charged.
My alternator bust recently and I had similar problems when the battery was flat, new alternator and gear change went back to normal.
Do what you like.Like what you do.

frozen water in the water trap in the bottom of the fuel filter. try changing the fuel filter or draining off the water when its warmed up and has been running.
