Alternator Belt Fitting
Hi guys the Alternator belts on out 2.5 TD bongo broke a couple of weeks ago, I managed to get new belts Dayco V belts 13A1063C, but when trying to fit them they seem to be a little short.
it this a common problem when fitting the new alternator belts and a bit of brute force and ignorance will see it on or have i been sold the wrong size.
Any help is appreciated.

Re: Alternator Belt Fitting
new belats always seem short and i've had countless hours of fun trying to get them on! took 30 mins yesterday to get an aircon belt on, checked and swapped it 5 times cos i didnt believ it was the right size lol just fight with it and you'll get there, the weird thing is once you get the belt on, theres LOADS of adjustment required!!

Re: Alternator Belt Fitting
Silly question, but you have loosened all the nuts, slackened the adjuster & pushed the alternator in as far as it will go?
Re: Alternator Belt Fitting
321, yeah they just look short.
Yeah all bolts undone, and pushed altenator as far as would go even looosened the alternator so its loose.
I will keep trying.
Thanks Ralph

A bit of Googling brings up:
http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/v-belt/ ... 1063C.html
Tells us it will fit Mazda 323 and Volvo 740. The part number 1063 relates to the length 1063mm. The length Rita has quoted is 1100mm so it does look like you've ended up with the wrong belt
Last set I bought was from AutoLink and they fitted perfectly and were under £16 for the pair;
