Wishbone lower inner bushes

Post by chiefster1976 » Wed Oct 10, 2012 10:15 am

Hi all. Just received today my lower inner wishbone
Bushes (55mm outer diameter)and I'm just wondering if they should be
Pressed in because the shaft diameter is 27mm and the bushes
I have have a 20mm diameter.
Are these wrong? I'm thinking of turning them down
On the lathe at work to 27mm. Still be tight but
Will then fit with a bit of elbow grease.
I wouldn't have thought EVEN if there supposed to be pressed
In 7mm seems a lot..
Had to hit the old ones off with an hammer was that
Tight but was 27mm. They only failed because of
Slight cracking around the outer circumference. MOT here
In OZ is pretty strict.
Racing green with extras!!Self build full side conversion which rocks!!!

Either your wishbone is non standard or the bushes are wrong I would say. Not sure about turning them down, if they are wrong they could be the wrong material and become too thin. (Just theorizing, no actual experience of doing wishbones.)

me too, not sure of the sizes but they must be a tight fit onto the wishbone, thats how they work, once the mounting clamp is bolted up there should be little or no movement.
i use a little rubber grease when mounting/assembling.

Stupid idea but you haven't bought the rear bush and trying to fit it to the front are you? Sorry if I've misunderstood

Yep thats what my wishbone diameter is =27mm.. Hence im sure my wishbone is stadard of 27mm..
They must have sent the wrong ones as im sure speaking to a few vehicle builders at work recon even if they were pressed in
they would have been closer to 26mm diameter and pressed in maybe but 20mm that they are is wayyyyyy off!!
Ill maybe just ge em turned down in the laithe..
