Radiator Needed

Post by jsalcar » Mon Sep 24, 2012 11:40 am

Hello everyone,

Advice needed again!!! My radiator is leaking from the top corner, drivers side. Do I need to replace the radiator or is it possible to fix? I read some posts and it seems that at the same time I change the radiator I need to "install" a new gen mazda stat - Thank you for all your help in advance.

Any suggestions where I can get/ buy radiator and stat, please?

oh! Another question. Would it be safe to drive the Bongo as soon as I keep coolant at right level?

Thanks again

Hi ,happened to me in France..don't use radweld as it can damage other parts. This site and AVA leisure do parts. I don't know if K seal works on rads if you are desperate, but get it into a Bongo garage and get it done right! ..and the none Mazda rad is good and much cheaper!! ...also I would do all the pipes at the same time....As far as safe to drive goes, I drove carefully for about 40kms and all seemed well, but that is the problem SEEMED...you are never sure! Only drive it if its not leaking much and you have to.Dave

I bought a new rad earlier this year from euro car parts. Cheaper than Mazda and all running fine.

Mine was the same
I just took it to Wheel Quick in Wigan
I had a new rad, thermostat ( might as well whilst its in bits)
New cam belt and fuel filter
£375 I was happy.
Its not a difficult job but to be honest I didnt want to have my first bleeding lesson five days before a hiloday in the Bongo so it was all about piece of mind.
Personally I would get the rad and stat done at the same time

Wheelquick is a great garage which I have used many times, well my sister lives only 4 miles away. But for you Jorge it could be a bit too fr. Why don't you give Bill at campercraft in Kirkcaldy a ring to see how much would charge for doing the job for you. http://campercraft.eu/default.aspx
Another possible Bongo garage near to you is Dairsie Autopoint in Fife, postcode KY15 4SR, tel: 01334 870271. or 2.
