Sliding door won't shut
Help please! Camped in a very wet field in Penzance last night and when I was ready to set off I realised the sliding door was ajar and will not close fully. The locking mechanism does not make the normal whirring noise and the door is ajar but does lock. The handle for the lock seems slack too. Any clues? I checked the fuses and they are ok, I had been on the leisure battery but had switched back to the car main.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Sliding door won't shut
give it a bash with heel of your hand (quite hard) 1/3 way up in the middle on the inside
Re: Sliding door won't shut
Do you have a volt meter?? You could have a look & see if you get any constant voltage from the door pins on the jam/B pillar side...?

Could be a duff relay???

Re: Sliding door won't shut
Thank you for your help so far...
I have checked the contacts on the door post and I am not getting any power reading at all?
Any more ideas of what to check next?
If it is a problem with a relay where are these located and how do I check them?
Sorry, I am a total novice!!
Thanks

Hi, i realize in your first post you checked the fuse... Did you check the blue 15a fuse on the bottom row of four..? As opposed to the CL fuse on the top row..! You never know...?!!

Re: Sliding door won't shut
The fuse for the sliding doors is the 15 Amp shown below;
However another cause of the sliding door not operating is that it gets out of kilter if the supply to it is disconnected and the door is opened/closed, this can be cured by a violent bang to the inside about a third of the way up in the middle, if that doesn't work then its a case of remove the door panel and manually operate the mechanism to get it back in sync.

Thanks,
I have checked the fuse, it's all ok. I have taken the door panel off and tried to fish around in there but the door still won't close, the catch on the back of the door (opposite side to the handle) seems to be jammed shut and stopping the door from fully shutting.

find the cable that goes to the back lock, the other end of this(middle of door) is connected to the drive. watch your fingers and push the driver and cable to the front of the door, this will engage the drive and free up the rear door lock.

This link may help you out Bodiebongo...? Though i'm confused as to why there is no voltage coming from the sprung pillar contact, which should when the door touches & connects power the soft closure mechanism..

Geoff, you at a star, it worked...manually manipulating the cable worked! Yeah! What a relief! Thank you againg8dhe wrote:The fuse for the sliding doors is the 15 Amp shown below;

Only problem now is the guy that was helping me opened the door too quickly and snapped the grey plastic trim in half! I guess I need to get the glue out
