Sorry to see how bad the valance has got on your bongo Sparkymik. :( Hopefully it's not daft £££'s to get it sorted [-o< [-o< [-o<

Will the area around the striker plate have to be cut away and fresh steel welded back in? I don't envy whoever has to line that plate back up again... :?

Well I can say for sure the rot comes from inside the box beam/section that the floor pan sits on, if you are under the back vallence and look up and to the rear you will be under the botton profile of the box section, here's the rub, there is a massive hole in it and the weather and road spray get up and into it, in fact there are a few holes but this one is directly under the door latch, the access hole for the spare wheal tool passess right through the section how ya gonna stop it from rotting out? it fills with road spray, all the time your on a wet road, Oh well more tomorrow, If I had'nt become unemloyed I would not have all this time on my hands and I would still be blissfully ignorant

This is another place that most people miss when they underseal, thin down a 1 litre can andusing a probe, blast it in the 8 holes that can be accessed along the rear crossmember, bo the same for sides and front, no guarantee it will stop it completelt but it does the job slowing it down!

Had a look at the valance on mine yesterday, looks like I caught it just in time so a big Thank you to Dave and SparkyMik for flagging this issue up and also to Julian for the tip on spraying it.
