Windscreen washers not working
Has anyone had a problem with their windscreen washer, front and rear not working? Wipers fine so not a fuse.
Re: Windscreen washers not working
Something I need to investigate when i've time. My rear washer isnt working, and from previous posts it would appear to be a duff pump. Need to swap front and rear pumps over to prove it (and that it's not just a blockage).
I think the pump from a more modern mazda will work.. i'll have a look to see if i can find the original thread.

It has been that simple David.
Also, are they definitely fused with the wipers?

if the rear pump is working, but no water coming out of jet check the little thimble sized one way valve it gets blocked,
find the rubber at the top of the rear door, remove gentley, cant remember if its the door side or the body side, but about 6 inches down the pipe is a little valve, remove and blow clear, dont suck it tastes like &%it dont let go of the ends of the pipes,or you will be cursing.

Re: Windscreen washers not working
Hi, sorry to bump an old thread - but both my washers have packed up and I'm looking for some ideas.
The tank isn't empty! I can't hear the pumps working though the wipers are fine.
Thanks
Stew

A while back now someone had the impellers on the motors come loose as I recall, I think after the liquid froze ? Maybe the same ? You would need to take the tank off and release the pumps and inspect them. I would think that provided they can be reached it might be possible to glue them back on with araldite.

Before you replace the pumps or start pullin them apart, just check to make sure the wiring connectors are not corroded, this was the problem when mine stopped working.

Re: Windscreen washers not working
Is it possible to test the pump in an easy way. I have removed the washer bottle and pumps attached. Blowing through the washer pipes they all appear clear. There was gunk in the bottle coming out of the removed bottle via the pumps so I washed the bottle out and put cleaned the connections to the pumps ansd put it back in the van. Still no luck. I can't hear an obvious pumping noise, Is it likely for both pumps to fail soon after each other?. The wipers work, but not the pump. I don't fancy holding a couple of wires from the vans battery to the pump. 1) it might blow the pump and 2) I may get hurt.
Can I connect it to a 9v battery whilst it is out of the van and see if it works?

Re: Windscreen washers not working
just connect a 12 v batt feed and earth to them,(try both ways when connecting), it wont hurt. they may work if you tap them gently.

clean them as per this
be warned the rubber bung holds them in on mine leaked one side after
so you might need a bollop of mastic around it before shoving it back in

Can't remember for sure but just check the fuses by the drivers knee....I have had this fault before and it was just a blown fuse(wipers worked)
If not you may be looking at a switch or pump easy to check with a multimeter..
Hope this helps Steve.

Re: Windscreen washers not working
Are you sure that they are on different fuses. I makes sense to have the washer pump and the wiper on the same fuse. I am sure I read somewhere that that is the case. If it isn't can some one tell me which fuses before I take the bongo to bits again. I am just about to send off for a pump that will fit the front, but cannot find one for the back washer. I was thinking of buying 2 front ones and cobbling together a connection for the rear one. Also does the MOT require both front and rear pumps to be working?
Thanks for your help.
