No Go Bongo.

Post by mister munkey » Sun May 30, 2010 10:06 pm

I thought it was about time I had a little grief from my beloved beast. Had no grief since christmas.

Got back from relaxed 160 mile round trip to Blackpool meet today, collected mrs M & kid to do the one mile trip to the in-laws for dinner.

Exited the car park at the back of the house but had to turn round straight away as Mrs M had left her fone behind.

Stopped, reversed 10ft, turrned back into the car park entrance & pffffffffffffff. Engine cuts out.

Pushed it into a nearby space but that seems to be its resting place now.

It turns over, albeit in a lumpy fashion but refuses to fire up. Deffo feels like a fuel problem but has 20l+ in the tank & has given no previous symptoms.

:-k

Will be getting the RAC out in the morning but in the mean time is there anything obvious that I've missed I should be looking at?

Still a No-Go Bro. :(

Symptoms suggest stop solenoid. (Kirsty's not always right but never wrong!) Had a look around the pump but can't see anything obvious in the way of loose/detatched wires so will put it on the back burner for now. Another thought as I've been running it pretty low before fill-ups is a blockage somewhere. Normal routine is a fresh fuel filter every 5000 miles but I've been slack lately, last change 9000 ago so crud may have got as far as the banjo.

Going out to spank the MX6 for a couple of hours & call the RAC later on. Worst case scenario is getting it lifted to my local spannermonkey to deal with tomorrow.

Fingers crossed its a simple fix, I'll keep you posted.

Not looking good.. Nice man from RAC has had a rummage, fuel is getting through.

Cranking the engine over, it doesn't sound right. Too lumpy.

He suspects cam belt. :(

Hi
Oh, Poo...I sincerely hope that any damage/ or not, is within a reasonable budget!...don't give up though...every item repaired is one less to go wrong....and it's like buying a good motor on installments!
Cheers

ouch

If it is that, will it be just a belt or can more costly damage be caused?

Fingers crossed.

Cheers chums. This hurts.

If it is the belt, its a rare thing indeed. No idea of the added damage possibilities

Its in the hands of a Greater Power now.

Would be nice if I can get a smile back on my face before Friday - we're due to be at Debbies meet in Angelsey. [-o<
