FUEL PUMP LEAK

Post by chiefster1976 » Thu May 06, 2010 11:03 am

Hi..i have a SLIGHT drip from the fuel pump! have a buyer for the bongo but am told that replacement could be really expensive!!

I have seen on here that it may be possible to replace the seals on the pump before paying the big expense to change the fuel pump

1.DID anyone get the fuel pump O ring seal part numbers yet?
2. Is there a definate on whether these O rings are replaceable WITHOUT taking out the fuel pump??? Diesel
3. PLEASE can you guys give me the part number/serial numbers for the fuel pump so i can replace if needed and also the part number for the pump seals that CAN BE replaced with pump in position??
I know my previous 2000 model Mazda B2500 TD UTE was the same engine, but as i found out there the oil filter is different to the bongo so maybe the fuel pump could be different.. #-o
maybe the ford ranger has the same part numbers????? thanks guys...

Factsheet in the members area on changing the seals or do a search on "fuel and pump and seals"

Hi!

FYI I had my fuel pump seals replaced at Lakeside Garage. Seals cost £7 but no idea about labour as included with a service and other work. Might be worth giving them a call for a quote.

Cheers,
Al.

Ahhhhh... I was thinking of the Brisbane just outside Staines!

Only excuse I have is I'm suffering from a cold and can't see straight.

I replied with part numbers on a different thread but now realise you have a new type fuel pump on yours - different seals methinks :? I assumed you had an earlier Bongo cos of the colour of it in your avatar

Ha ha, it would be a long way to come from OZ!!

mine is indeed a 1995 diesel bongo...

1. Does anyone have the general part number of the diesel fuel pump? If its not my O rings then ill have to replace the pump so hoping a Ford Ranger one will fit if it has the same part number!!

2. How many O rings are we talking here?? 2-3 ?? i have a part number of 2 460 223 001-000.. is that the right one for ALL the O rings i need??

3. how BIG of a Job is it to replace the fuel pump? hours involved and wether timing belt has to come off? Just bloody had the timing belt changed..

i appreciate all your replies guys..i really need to get this problem solved asap... #-o

turns out my fuel pump is leaking on the far side of the pump facing the rear of the bongo.... I.E.
where the 4 injector pipes go into the pump, there is a BOLT in the CENTRE in between the 4 injectors on the pump..this is where it is leaking...my friend machanic is checking with a diesel machanic whether there is a seal behind this area and wether it can be taken off without removing the pump itself...
[-o< [-o< [-o<

Hes thinks it might be replaceable BUT he alos thinks some companies will not sell individual seals and could charge up to $400 for a recondition kit...ouch...can get another secong hand pump for that..lol..
Q. Is there a seal behind this area and can it be taken off a replaced? I hope so...
