Headlamp bulb Type on Facelift

Post by apole » Mon Nov 19, 2007 4:34 pm

Hi there,

Could anyone confirm if the headlamp bulbs on a 2000 model year bongo are H4?

Need to get some better bulbs as the current ones aren't much use !!

Thanks.

I think they are - 3 connectors on two sides of a square?

Here's an idea:

It takes two minutes to get a bulb out of a new shape...

Have a quick look. then you can be sure.

(there is another current topic running on headlamp bulbs, where I have posted how good the headlamps on our new shape are)

Hi,

Thanks, I'm pretty sure they are H4. Normally I would be taking a look but with work and the dark evenings now not so easy !!

Still fairly easy. A torch, a bobbly hat and 2 minutes should do it.

DO NOT buy high wattage bulbs. the wiring will not take it. Go for white light standard wattage. I did and they are much better. Unfortunately I cannot remember if the are H4's and since it is P*****g down at the mo, I'm afraid I am not going to go and take one out--sorry!

I'm pretty sure they are H4's so I've gone for some Osram nightbusters, hoping to get them fitted at the weekend.

Keep you posted.

help. Can anyone send me a link to the instructions on exactly how to change the headlamp bulbs on a New Shape.

I am sure this has been covered.

I tried the BF search engine - Honest!

Hi,

Haven't done mine yet due to bulbs not arriving but on most cars and from what I saw when I looked:

Remove the electrical plug connector by carefully pulling off.

Remove the dark grey rubber (about 4 inches diameter) that covers the bulb and back of headlight.

Metal spring clip holds the bulb in. normally you press two bits inwards to release from some retaining clips, then this folds to release the bulb.

Carefully remove the bulb and replace with the new one, ensuring the locating lugs fit properly (do not touch the glass part of the bulb - if you do clean off with meths or something similar).

Refit in the reverse order.

I'll let you know more if you like when I get round to doing mine.

Thanks Andy, you are a star.

I know so little about the nuts and bolts of the vehicle I drive, I really should not be allowed out on the road!

It will, and it has, taken it for the 18 months we have had our Bongo, and presumably ever since they were fitted in Japan.
