National Bongo Day 24/02/2013

Hi All,
Anyone up for doing something on this momentous day?
I would be happy to get involved organising something if there is enough interest.
Any ideas?
Bit cold for camping I would think but there must be somewhere we could meet.
As simple as a bit of lunch, a park or a visit to an open farm or Zoo.
What ideas have we?

Count me in :D - happy to do whatever is most popular, even camping (I've got a fan heater)
We had a day meet in Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds a few years ago and then went for a pub lunch - can't remember which pub though  I do remember that the pub was packed and we ended up parking on the lawns :-" :-"

Run to the coast for a bracing walk along the beach then a pub lunch, nice roast dinner, or a country park for a winter cook out and a fire maybe :D

We'd probably be up for a meet somewhere (with a large hairy shouty dog!!)

Funny John, I thought you would be up for a pint, be good to see you again.
I like the idea of a coast meet, go for a stroll on the beach(with a large hairy shouty dog or two).
Then back to a pub for a spot of lunch.
I'll see what I can find in Suffolk that being the middle coastal county of our region.
If anyone has any coastal pubs in mind please let me know.
Must have a big car park and be dog friendly.

How about St.Osyth beach,Seawick, near Clacton? Postcode is CO168TB.
You can drive onto the beach, weather permitting, and The Sailor Boy pub is next to it.
Below is a pic of our Bertie on the beach.

Well a little dissapointed in the response :(
7 replies but 128 views.
Is that odd or is it me.
Perhaps Jan and I will just go to St Osyth with Mickey, love to walk into a pub with Mickey Mouse :)
Be good if M 8ongo, Longhaul8, Wendy'n'Alan and young John could make it too.
Let me know and I'll contact the pub.

It's not just you 8) The lack of response was the reason I stopped trying to organise Eastern Counties meets many moons ago :(
I probably won't be coming to St. Osyth because a round trip of 150 miles is a bit much for lunch, especially as the need to drive would deprive me of a refreshing pint or two  However, I can't find a campsite that's open all year, but I may be able to find a wild camping spot to sleep the beer off

Don't be disappointed at responses. Peeps usually only make positive replies not negative ones. We aim to try and attend a meet on this day as we are coming up to 8 years of membership but Clacton is a bit far for a day trip and I think I have given up cold weather camping what with age, muscles, joints and thinning blood. The only bit that seems to work as well as ever is the right hand transfering liquid from a glass to my mouth! But whatever good luck with your meet.
