Bongo Fury

Hi. Anyone used them for their conversions? Are they good? Been recommended. Replies by PM please as per rules.

There was talk of relaxing that rule ??

I've long admired Celtic Motorhomes work, but they're not the cheapest and I'm sure they don't have a monopoly on fine craftsmanship.

I'd also vote for Ed at Celtic MH. He's a perfectionist.

I agree Ed is a top bloke and his work is excellent, but that wasn't who Jill was enquiring about...

I'm convinced that I've looked up at every possible conversion for a Bongo, and the practicality of them in the small space of a Bongo! I had a full side conversion for about year and half and sold my Bongo because of it. In an AFT, cooking is a real pain. You spend the whole time huddled over due to fairly small 'opening' of the roof. I know you're having a Skylift Jill so it won't be an issue I don't think (bigger 'opening').

In my opinion a rear end conversion is much more suited to the space of a Bongo, Northstar's Outback conversion seems ideal to me. Advantages over classic side conversion are cook more comfortably inside and out, more comfortable seating arrangement, can convert back to full seats pretty easily, full width bed.

I know you're enquiring about SPD but thought I would get you my thoughts before you fully commit to your decision.

P.S. The other thing that bugged me about the side conversion is the amount of space that the main unit takes up, seems impractical. Great for storage though. Know Ed cuts back the grey panels to create more space.

Horses for courses Steve. I think it would be difficult for me to cook outside with a rear conversion because of the height from the ground (I'm a shortarse). Plus I don't need a double bed. I prefer some floor-room with the bed down - for the loo and the dog (short bed to be ordered). And I don't need all those seats either! I've taken a long time to think about this.

Storage is what I'm looking for. I'm planning to go off into the sunset with the dog but I don't want to have to use a tent for storage, cooking, etc when I wildcamp!

Oh side conversion all day long then Jill!
