Greetings one and all, just thought I'd say hello as I am soon to be back in a Bongo after a 4 year break. I'm off down to County Cars near Hove tomo to pick up my latest toy, a sexy looking v6 tin top, and could do with a little local advice. Firstly the insurance company have stated that it must be fitted with a Thatcham Cat 2 alarm, I remember reading somewhere, prob on BF, that most Bongo's are alarm less when they first get offa the boat due to the lack of car crime in Japan, if that' :D s the case where can I get one fitted and what sort of price am I looking at? Would rather fit it myself and take it somewhere to have it certified or what ever needs to be done. Secondly I fancy having it LPG converted, have heard mixed reports about Profess over in Penallta , mainly good but its always best to check when its your grand plus you are spending ! Finally my sexy lady is going to need to have here bottom well and truly covered in waxy stuff to keep her looking beautiful, any suggested garages? So many questions so little time. Hope to bump into you all metaphorically speaking around the bazaars. Cheers

Croeso and welcome back. 8)
There are quite a few bongo's down in South Wales so some owners will hopefully be along soon with local knowledge. [-o<
Have fun tomorrow picking her up, and hopefully we'll meet up in a field at some point.
There's a club meet in Abergavenny next year 18th - 20th May - get it in your diary now!!

Cheers

Andrew

Hi and welcome back, we got a V6 and am insured with 'Lifesure' and they don't require an alarm fitted. We have an LPG conversion, this was done by Mint autogas conversions in Rhiwderin nr. Newport at a cost of £1650 and im well impressed by their service =D> . Nearly 3 years on and still running sweet :D .Hope to see you round sometime. Good luck with your new toy and enjoy

Hi I had my LPG done at Profess last December. I think they are charging £1100 for 6 valves at the moment. I'm off again next week to have my run around converted so happy with the product and service. Only downside is its a long trip for me but luckily have relatives and friends in the area.

Just returned from picking up my new (to me) toy, ace service from Colin at County cars seems a totally decent chap, lets hope nothing happens to suggest otherwise :D . The thatcham alarm issue was sorted on account there was one already fitted to pass the IVA(?) test' happy days. The sound of the v6 is lovely which is lucky as I couldn't get the flat screen TV that sits where the cassette player should be, to switch on. I was able to get the screen to flip around and open, showing me where to pop the dvd and the such like but alas nowt else, me thinks it will all be in Japanese, any help will be appreciated. I have budgeted to spend a couple of bob on a new one anyway but it would be nice to see if the cool looking built in reversing camera by the number plate works. Cheers Amigos

I have had mine done and had nothing but trouble since. It has been back in 3 times and they say they cant find a fault with it - well it was not there before
I am planning a trip down to rhiwderin to see if they will look at it for me.
If you would like more details, please pm me.

I still think its 'ignition' related, it would still run well on petrol even if the ignition system was only operating at 90% of its capacity. Try replacing the H T leads, rota arm and plugs first and then see where you are.
Dave I got a good 'used' set of bosch super 4's you can borrow & try if it saves you the expense of buying.
