Potential Venue for Tough Northerners, March 2013

Post by Ian » Thu Aug 16, 2012 1:53 pm

Would anyone like to nominate a venue for this event, which will be held over the weekend of 22 March 2013? The site should be situated in East Yorks, North Yorks, Co Durham or Northumberland. It must be able to accommodate 25 vehicles all with electric hook-up. It must have full amenities, and be dog and child friendly. Interesting things to do nearby are a big plus. And either a clubhouse on site or walking distance to a pub.

Any recommendations?

I lose track (as you all know). Where was TNIV 2012 held?

Hmm well maybe its the turn of the western side. Wetter, but can be milder at that time of year. Trough of Bowland is a bit of a gem.

What a shame. :(

Maybe the Tough Northerners should be allowed to be not so tough and have their event a little later? It does seem a shame, speaking as a southern-shirtlifter based up here, that they always have to endure March (I mean I know they are proud of their toughness but...). Can't different regions take it in turn to be tough?

Somewhere actually up North would be good, lakes, Co. Durham or especially Northumberland would be good for me. I will have a look at some potential sites. There is a site at pooley bridge with a massive rally field, kids play areas, on site take away, bar and within walking distance of the village( plenty pubs) Also on the side of a lake for a spot of watersports.

That will be Park Foot, Stuc. We have been there a couple of times not on hook up but in the height of summer. Lovely site but busy.

I am with Mike though why be so harsh on Northerner's! Different time of year maybe? Hook ups would not be so important then....

I agree a little later would be more appealling to take the kids. Not all Northerners are that tough even though I have been known to drink in the Bigg Market in the toon.
Another site I have stayed at a lot is in Northumberland. Very quiet but with bar next door, kids play area and absolutely beautiful surroundings. Would be a great venue. Lots of car clubs have had do's here.
The website is a bit rubbish though no actual pictures.

I've proposed a Scottish Winter Meet at the Red Squirrel in Glencoe on the 18th-20th January, 2013 (viewtopic.php?f=24&t=58179). If the roads are particularly bad, we may select another venue further south.

Who is "tough enough"?!
