Think we need a new head :( anyone recommended?

Post by Scott & Gillian » Fri Feb 10, 2012 8:22 pm

It looks likely that we've got a cracked head due to the usual overheating nightmare.
Unfortunately our local mechanic won't be able to do it for a few months but we need the Bongo fixed!
Anyone recommended around Scarborough/York way that might be able to do such a job?

Well, despite much of what's said and what a couple of garages told us, I didn't want to believe it was the head gone.
So, I changed the rad cap, stat and water pump.
Then, I followed the youtube videos about how to properly bleed the Bongo.
And............since then, the van has been perfect, for 2 months!!
I think the problem was most likely air in the system which is hard to get rid of without 3 people and the right method to tackle it.
So, for now, we are very happy!! :)

Good to hear. =D>
You said you changed the rad cap - Hope you meant the expansion tank cap.

Actually, we changed both the rad and the expansion caps.
