Dunno, the gauge can't have been on full for more than a minute or two.
No 'froth' in the oil either.
I might have just got away with it.

Getting bled tomorrow that's for sure though!

Fingers crossed for you. You sound like you know your motors OK, even if some garage didn't. An error like that is not something I would have instinctively thought to go looking for when I'd just bought a roadworthy car. And you couldn't realistically have fitted a low coolant alarm before you even know there was one for the Bongo.

Good luck and keep us posted 8)

Er...anyone got a picture of this mysterious bleed pipe?
I've spent about half an hour trawling the forum to no avail.

Is this the pipe next to the oil filler cap?

It's the long one that should come out of the 4 way connector with a plug in the end going over the alternator & clipped under the nearside of the passy seat, should be the only one that goes nowhere,15-381A on here, top right - http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Get a new one then you need the length to bleed properly.

Pipe about 3ft long after all & blanked off with this above the turbo.

I am now following bleed procedure with funnel.

Biggest funnel I have!
A few bubbles out to start with, but heaters still cold.

BTW missfixit70, cheers for all your help :D

:D

Wish I'd known about the world's worst cooling system before buying one though.

Don't tell me....a Bongo overheats just the once and the head explodes, the auto free top is sent into orbit and the wheels fall off?

The head is in being skimmed and leak tested today so I will prepare myself for the worst.
