Wirral bongo competent mechanics

Post by Nvm » Tue Aug 26, 2014 9:13 am

Hi all
Needing help again...
When the bongo needs attention it's not Always possible to go to Wigan. I've seen plenty of bongos in Wirral. In fact there are five bongo owners within 5 minutes walk of mine, so where are the bongo mechanics/garages in Wirral, Mechanics that really know a bongo.

Obviously I'll be speaking to the surrounding bongo owners too but does anyone have any recommendations?

Cheers nvm

The last owner of mine lived in Crosby and he used a local garage, I can find the details if need be, but to be honest I would just take it to Wheel quick at Wigan as they mainly do Bongos and are very good

A lot of Bongo stuff is fairly routine and I'll bet wheelquick or Adrian in Bury (or any of the good specialists) would be happy to give a little help over the phone to a keen local mechanic as they are generally snowed under with work and don't need more. And the local garage could make reverse recommendations when real special work needs doing. Bleeding a Bongo must be done right though so make sure they follow proper practice.

Thanks all,
Bleeding bongos must be done right is the issue some mechanics don't know how this should really be done.
Problem is if the the bongo sounds sick driving it to say Bury or Crosby or anywhere too far is an issue. Waiting for diagnosis and then the work etc. As is the case up at Wheel quick who are very good but Wigan is Wigan, too far.

Plus another big issue is, I've been charged £75 by a local garage to put in new glow plugs (the plugs I supplied) which I thought was a bit rich. But I'm sure you can see the whole predicament...
But your replies are appreciated

Fairly routine is one big mega question full stop!
'Help over the phone' 'keen local mechanic' I just don't know if this is a reality.
Let's be more focused BIRKENHEAD, there has to be a bongo minded garage...

When you can't buy something, you can try growing it instead, is all I'm suggesting. I'm pretty sure one or two of these specialists actually have helped other mechanics before. But personally I've no idea who in birkenhead might be able to help. Good luck in your quest.

I appreciate your input and understand what you are saying about growing your own etc. I have tried this in the past but what I was hoping for was for someone to say this garage (in wirral) totally understands bongos - I've been taken mine there for last 10 years etc.

Asking the locals was always my intention but I thought I would test the force of the mighty fury first.

Hi! I use Lowry & Williams, Unit 3 New Way Business Centre, Oakdale Road, Wallasey CH44 7HT (it is just off the Dock Road) Tel 0151 638 2234. They were recommended by previous owner and I have found them to be good for servicing, MOT etc & acceptable cost wise. Hope this helps.
