Bongo-ing in the northwest with childrn - any recommendatns?

Post by klmwong » Sat Apr 14, 2012 6:45 pm

Hiya everyone,

I am looking forward to a summer of going out and about in our bongo. There's me, my 7 year old, almost 6 year old and an 8 month old. David won;t be coming with is because he'll be at work. Does anyone have any recommendations for good places to go and see. Hopefully stuff that will keep the older two interested and happy. As far as I am concerned if the littlies are happy then I am happy.

We are in Warrington and so far I have booked a 2 night stay in Southport at a Caravan Club site a few mins walk from the beach and am thinking of a similar trip over to Conwy Castle. Everyone loves castles don't they? Does anyone have any ideas? WE will prob do a trial run during the next set of sch hols in June and stay somewhere close ish cos it's a very scary thought being totally outnumbered by littlies and away from home in the bongo.

Thanks,

MW

Have a root around on my website
http://thattoheathmountainrescue.piczo.com/?cr=7
Things to do in North Wales and Camping would be a good start, we have a lot more to add to it but never seam to have time at the moment.
Oh and you need to go to this

Very good day out for all, Llandudno is very busy with loads going on that weekend
Get yourself two of these and a bucket

Put some bacon in the bottom, go to New Brighton marina, kids will love it. Good Cafe and chip shop, Cafes green and on a corner, chippys a few doors away, the area has had a lot of work done and is improving all the time, model boating lake for the kids to look at too, good field for kite flying Aldi have some nice ones for £3.99, get one with one string as they are easier to fly.
If its raining use this

Hello, we really liked Conwy Touring Park last year as it didn't break the bank and was great for visiting Conwy & Llandudno. We're going again this year with our 3 children. We thought it was a really good base. It's a big park but our pitch was really roomy and felt very private. There's a decent park for the children and lots of room to run around. ukcampsite.co.uk has a few bad reviews (we read them after we came back though so they didn't put us off) but we all had a really good time there.

Hi
I live in Qatar but I spend every summer in Cheshire with my children and since last year with the Bongo too.

an easy-ish camping trip from Cheshire is to Beddgelert in Snowdonia - I did my first ever Bongo trip there last summer. We stayed at a nice site which was I think owned by the Forestry Commission. It has its own station for the narrow gauge steam railway which runs right next to site. There is a small shop and playground on the site too. Beddgelert village which you can get to via the steam railway is nice with a nice shallow river to jump around in, and the statue of the dog to visit.

Otherwise closer to home, Knowsley Safari Park, Southport, New Brighton but the opposite end to the fort and funfair as there are nice dunes there, or Southport, Conwy is nice as you mentioned and if you head through the town towards the marina there is a nice beach on the estuary. Beeston Castle is great if you don't mind the steep hill to the top!
And you won't be interested in this but I always do a half-day at...IKEA! (the nearest one to me is in Saudi Arabia)
